Newly elected AFC leopards chairman Alex ole Magelo was yesterday handed over the playing unit and technical bench of the club during a ceremony at the team’s Kabete Technical Training Institute grounds, training base.

Magelo took over the team just days after being declared the winner of a disputed election last Sunday at the Nyayo Sadium. He, will however have to wait until tomorrow to fully take charge of the club from the Interim Management Board set up by Sports Minister Paul Otuoma and placed under the charge of Commissioner of Sports Gordon Oluoch.

Former Harambee Stars player Dan Shikanda presided over the ceremony and called on the new office to ensure the team performs well in the Kenyan Premier League and other assignments. “It is the wish of the board to hand over the team to the new office. We anticipate the process will be completed later this week. We want everybody to concentrate on ensuring the team takes off successfully in the league,” Shikanda said.

“Today is a very happy day for me and I want to assure you that we are here to win the league,” Magelo said. He was flanked by members of the new office including Josphat Bukachi-secretary general, Geoffrey Mulanya-assistant secretary general, Patrick Keyonzo-treasurer, Anthony Walela-assistant treasurer and three committee members in Duncan Angode, Frederick Lutta and Ken Bunyasi.”We shall fully support the technical bench and in return we want them to concentrate on winning matches,” Magelo added.”We shall form and execute structural changes as we seek to be the best club in the country.”
