Channel 4 has angered children’s charities after refusing to censor scenes showing Gwyneth Paltrow singing a track by disgraced pop star Gary Glitter.
Her version of Glitter’s 1973 hit, Do You Wanna Touch Me, in the TV series Glee, which is set in a high school, is likely to earn the convicted sex offender thousands in royalty payments after it entered the iTunes top 30 when it aired in the U.S. this week.
Paltrow’s character, Holly Holliday, sings the song during a sex education class in an episode due to be screened on E4 next month.
The song is also on an album of music from the show.
