A top Young Africans “Yanga” official has stepped down following the leadership crisis that has engulfed the Jangwani Street club.Yanga vice-chairman Davis Mosha submitted his resignation letter to his chairman Lloyd Nchunga yesterday. In an interview with The Citizen, Mosha, the latest top official to walk out on the troubled club, said he was fed up with the now – and – again leadership wrangles.

The outspoken official accused a group of club members who, he alleges, are waging a campaign to tarnish his image.”I have submitted my resignation letter to the club chairman after learning that some members do not appreciate my immense contribution to the club,” he said.

“Right now, they accuse me of being responsible for our team’s failure to beat Simba last weekend; it’s very funny, how can I sabotage my own team?” he queried.Mosha declined to divulge more details on his drastic decision, but The Citizen understands that there has been a stand-off between him and the club’s chief sponsor, Yusuf Manji.

In the last three months or so, they differed on various issues pertaining to the club, although they both avoid revealing the cause of their differences.

When contacted for comment, acting Yanga secretary general Selestin Mwesigwa confirmed that Mosha has resigned. But he fell short of giving more details, saying Nchunga would officially make it public after a meeting of the club’s executive committee tentatively set for today.
