LAGOS – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, yesterday, reacted to the comments of Governor Muazu Babangida that Lagos was a no-go area for the PDP in the April poll, describing his remarks as “arrant nonsense unbecoming of a top member of the party”.
The governor had at the 47th Annual International Conference of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society in Minna praised Governor Babatunde Fashola and the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, for performance in Lagos State and that the PDP should see the state as a no-go area.
But in a swift reaction yesterday, PDP Campaign Coordinator in Lagos State, Barrister Ladipo Johnson, said Babangida’s comments were misplaced and could not have represented the true situation in the state.
He said that by such “unguarded statements” the governor was clearly getting involved in anti-party activities and that his estimation of the relative strength of both PDP and ACN in Lagos State was a fraudulent scheming that had political undertone”.
