Herty Born GreatFirst time nominee at this year’s Ghana Music Awards, gospel artiste Herty Born Great says she is very optimistic she will carry the day in all the categories she has been nominated in.

Although she acknowledges that she faces stiff competition in the categories she has been nominated in; Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Discovery of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance of the Year, Herty still believes she will be victorious.

In the gospel categories, she is up against great artistes like Cecilia Marfo, Ernest Opoku, No Tribe, Florence Obinim, Ceccy Twum and Cee, Ampong and Isaac who in the year under review were simply amazing while in the Discovery and Female Vocal Performance, she is up against Jay Ghartey, Eazzy, Iwan, Nana Boroo, Trigmatic, Bless, Efya, Christiana Love and Cindy Thompson.

She has been singing for a while but she broke into the industry with her first album, Odo Ben Ni last year, which was so well received by the general public and has led to her nominations at the 2011 edition of the Music Awards.

With a very strong voice coupled with the energy she puts into her performances, Herty has endeared herself to music lovers who cheer her on every time she mounts the stage.

Herty says her main objective is to inspire people through her songs to let them know that God loves them and will never leave them and that shows in the kind of songs on her album like Nkuguo Die Wa Pa Ho and the title track, Odo Ben Ni.

Perhaps as her name goes, Born Great, she was born to do great things, which is why she is so confident that she will attain glory at this year’s awards.

This year’s Ghana Music Awards will come off on April 9 at the Dome, Accra International Conference Centre.
