Chieftains of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), including party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu, Bisi Akande, National Chairman and others, yesterday criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over insecurity.

Speaking in a rally at the Uyo Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom State, Tinubu said Nigerians were tired of the PDP-led government and urged party supporters to vote the party out next month.

He said the PDP had failed the nation especially in the area of security.

The ex-Lagos State governor said kidnappings and violent crimes had become prevalent in Nigeria.

Tinubu promised that ACN would address the problem.

He said they were in the state on a broom revolution and urged party supporters to sweep corrupt and evil governments out of power.

The ACN leader said: “This government has lied a lot and we will use these brooms to sweep the PDP out of power; we will give you that joy.”

Ribadu said the PDP government is corrupt, with the people’s money diverted into personal use.

He said the ACN would fix the power sector and create jobs to stop kidnappings and politically-motivated killings.

The candidate assured the people that the oil cash coming into the state from the Federation Account would be utilised for their benefit.

He said refineries, petro-chemical plants and industries would be established.

The party’s candidate Senator John Udoedehe said it was time to sweep the evil regime out of power.

He said the people had been living in fear because of kidnappings and politically-motivated killings.

He said: “Akwa Ibom has become a colony of captivation; we are in bondage and I have asked God that through me, my people shall be free.”

He said the PDP-led government in the state had lied by telling people of so many projects it did not initiate, including the airport, the five star hotel and others.

The candidate said the huge cash inflow into the state would be deployed to change the people and their lifestyles by banishing hunger and deprivation.

“We are going to pay unemployed graduates allowances until they get jobs”, he said.

Akande urged the people to turn out en masse and vote out PDP.

He thanked them for showing support for the party.
