Notts County’s latest signing Njogu Demba-Nyren hopes to play a bigger part in English League One club’s remaining campaign in the 2011 season.

The 31-year-old made his debut from the bench on Saturday, in the Magpies’ 2-0 loss to Leyton Orient. The Gambian international didn’t have much time to impress but insists that he’s fit and ready to spearhead the Notts attack in subsequent fixtures.

“I’ve been here for three or four weeks to get in good shape, and I’ve been working with the fitness coaches and the boys,” he told Magpie Player.

“I feel I’m fit now physically and mentally I’m ready, I just have to prove it to the boss that I want to play and I hope to be part of his team.

“It wasn’t a difficult choice for me to come to Notts County, because I know they are a good team.

“I want to score a lot of goals and be an important player here.”

Notts County signed Demba, who was recently released by Danish club OB Odense, on a deal until the end of the season after a three-week trial spell. The Gambian international has performed for a number of teams throughout Europe during his career, which started back in 1998 with Swedish outfit Falu BS. Since then, he has played in Greece, Denmark, Bulgaria and Norway for the likes of Panathanaikos, Esbjerg and SK Brann.
