Vice-President Namadi Sambo said on Thursday that the Peoples Democratic Party would win the April 2011 general elections in the North-West in spite of claims to the contrary by the opposition.
Sambo stated this in Zamfara at the commencement of Governor Umaru Shinkafi’s electioneering campaign.
He said the PDP remained the only credible party that had the interest of Nigerians at the top of its agenda.
The vice president, represented by his Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Alhaji Bashir Safiyanu, noted that states under the PDP had sufficient achievements to display as credentials for re-election.
He warned the electorate not to be deceived by mouth- watering promises that could not be fulfilled by the opposition.
According to him, they should rather come out en masse to vote for the ruling party in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Sambo stated that the PDP was the only party that could take Nigeria to the promised land.
“I urge you to vote for the PDP in all elections so that our dream for a better Nigeria can come to fruition in the very near future,” he said.
In his address, the state Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha, said in the last three and half years, Shinkafi had charted a clear course for socio-economic development of Zamfara.
Mallaha said that Shinkafi’s achievements were evident in the educational, agricultural and mineral sectors, among others.
Thousands of PDP supporters including Shinkafi’s three wives, party chieftains, political appointees and clerics converged on Bakura, Zamfara to witness the occasion.
