PRESIDENT OF New Edubiase FC Abdul Sallam Yakubu has flatly debunked media reports that he owes his players some monthly bonuses. Speculations are rife that some players of New Edubiase FC have not been paid for some months despite serving the club faithfully.

But in a sharp rebuttal, president of New Edubiase said there is no iota of truth in the rumuor, so the general public should treat it with contempt. “I don’t owe any of my players as I speak with you,” he stated in a radio chat in Kumasi recently.

He challenged any New Edubiase FC player who claims the club owe him to come public to prove him wrong. Yakubu said the club pays its players promptly every month, stressing that their monthly bonuses are also paid without delay.

He slammed a section of the media for not cross checking their facts and always publishing half truths. According to him, if the journalist that published the story contacted him earlier on he would have done a professionals job and come out with the truth.

Yakubu said football has made him poor because he has been spending all his monies just to get the club running. “I don’t make any profit from running New Edubiase, in fact the club is gradually draining all my accounts.”

He said his strong passion for football is the only thing keeping him in the soccer business. “I am still in football because I love the game; other than that I would have stopped and use my money to invest in something else which would bring me income.”
