Nana Fredua Ofori-Atta, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the flagbearer of the party Nana Akufo-Addo will not apologize over his “all die be die” comment.

The NPP flagbearer on February 12, explaining his “all die be die” comment said it was meant to urge party members to be courageous in the face of intimidation in the 2012 elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo was lampooned by political opponents, mainly officials of the ruling party accusing him of beating war drums and inciting party supporters into violence. They have therefore demanded an unqualified apology from the NPP flagbearer.

But Nana Fredua on Asempa FM said President Mills instead of addressing the issues raised by Nana Akufo-Addo rather issued a ‘red alert’ directive to the security agencies to deal with people who will disturb the peace of the country.

He said they are chanting and running riot over the “all die be die” comment because they have misunderstood Nana Addo.

Nana Fredua explained Nana Akufo-Addo’s comment was to advise the party supporters to defend themselves if attacked and not to initiate attacks. He added that they as NPP members understand Nana Addo and are inspired and highly motivated by the “all-die-be-die” comment.
