Martin Sheen is reportedly “taking a break” in Malta, following the media frenzy surrounding his son Charlie Sheen.

Martin Sheen, the Hollywood actor and star of the ‘West Wing’ is currently in Malta “taking a break” from the attention surrounding his troubled son, Charlie Sheen, reports AOL News.

Sheen attended the Maltese premiere of his new film ‘The Way’, in which he plays a father who decides to walk the same ancient spiritual trail in Spain where his son died. The premiere was organised by the US ambassador to Malta, DOUGLAS KMIEC, who is a personal friend of the 70-year-old actor. A source close to Martin who spoke on the condition of anonymity said he did not want to answer questions about his son Charlie, adding, “He is taking a break from everything in the U.S. We’ve been told he does not want to answer any questions about Charlie right now”. The 45-year-old ‘Two and Half Men’ star has made a number of bizarre talk show appearances in recent weeks whilst also breaking a social networking world record after accumulating more than one million Twitter followers.

Despite refusing to answer questions in Malta, Martin Sheen spoke about his son’s situation in a recent interview with Sky News. The 70-year-old said, “He’s an extraordinary man and he’s doing well. We pray for him. If he had cancer how would you treat him. This disease of addiction is a form of cancer. You have to have an equal measure of concern and love”.
