Senate President David Mark has assured the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN)that the Senate will pass the Freedom of Information (FoI) Bill before next month’s elections.
He gave the assurance yesterday when executive members of NPAN visited him to press for the Senate’s speedy passage of the bill.
Mark however, gave conditions that the media proprietors and practitioners must show enough responsibility by instilling checks and balances among professionals.
He said: “Passage of the bill into law is not a problem but we must show enough restraint and responsibility in order to avoid recklessness in the discharge of our duties.
