Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that winning against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu was never going to be their first option and is already looking ahead to Sunday’s clash with Osasuna in a relegation six-pointer.

Pellegrini saw his side get destroyed 7-0 by los Blancos in the Spanish Primera Division on Thursday evening and they remain second from bottom in the league standings.

Malaga are three points behind 17th-placed Hercules but their Chilean coach doesn’t appear to be too concerned with the heavy loss suffered at the hands of his former team.

“Before the match against Real Madrid we knew that we could not get a result,” said Pellegrini, according to Europapress.es. “The game does not affect us at all. For us it is a week in which we have to think Osasuna and Almeria.”

“I talked with the squad and, of course, we would have liked to play a great game, but it all opened with their third goal,” added the Chilean.

“Our mentality is to play on Sunday against Osasuna, which is like a final.”
