To work in a unified team, the members have  come together to form a formidable association called Film Crew Association of Ghana. (F.I.C.A.G)

Although the association is less than a month old, internal squabbling has started erupting its ugly head as they are contemplating on whether they should include the Nigerian crew members who practice their trade here in Ghana. This revelation was made known to Flex newspaper when movie makers came together in a fun filled meeting at Dansoman Good Shepherd hotel.

Enoch Atakora, one of the leading Production Managers in the movie industry who has worked on over 200 movie sets both in Ghana and Nigeria threatened not to join the association if things are not put right. “I will not like to talk about the film producers issue of finding ways and means to sack the Nigerians, but when it comes to crew members I have been in this business for long and I will not sit down for the wrong thing to be done whiles expecting me to endorse it” he added.

He continued that Ghanaians should face the fact or else the industry will end up no where. “When you employ the services of Nigerian crew members, they are very serious on the job and they will deliver for you. But many of our Ghanaian crew members are not serious at all, always playing after taking money from movie producers” he added.

“I will not like to mention names here.  Even our acting president is one of the lazy crew members. He comes on set and joke with people`s business. It sometimes beats my understanding” he lamented.

When this writer contacted the acting president  Mr. Samuel Gyandoh who specializes in lighting to ask him about all the allegations levelled against him, he expressed surprise about the way and manner Mr. Enoch Attakora made unfounded allegations against him. “This is something which came to our notice during one of our meetings, so I thought we were still deliberating on the issues until, I heard you telling me all this. Whether the Nigerians can join or not is still being deliberated upon” Mr. Gyandoh responded.

Though the association is a new association in the movie industry, reports say they have been accepted heavily by colleagues who are in the same business, especially those in Kumasi who will be launching their branch on April 16th at Kumasi Cultural center. Can they also be effective like the Film Producers Association (FIPAG)?
