EX-Chairman of the Coker/Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) House of Representatives’ candidate for Surulere Constituency II, Aliu Kazeem, escaped assassination on Wednesday.
A footage of the Close Circuit TV in his home showed that the suspected hired assassin invaded his home at the early hours of Wednesday.
He dismantled the burglary proof at the entrance and proceeded to the staircase where he broke into the bedroom.
Kazeem said he did not sleep at home on Tuesday.
The candidate praised God for sparing his life.
Kazeem said: “Tuesday was my last day in office as the executive chairman of Coker/Aguda LCDA.
‘’I resigned that day to have time to campaign for the election.
‘’I was presented with the party’s flag as the ACN candidate for the House of Representatives for Surulere.
‘’There was a send forth party at the council secretariat in my honour .
‘’I left the venue around 10 pm . I decided not to sleep at home because there were many guests waiting for me at home.
‘’I stayed away. I received a call on Wednesday morning, around 7:15, that an intruder invaded my home in the early hours.
“The CCTV captured the incident. He entered my bedroom through the ceiling.
‘’When he found nobody in the room, he stole many valuables, including the cell phone of the boy sleeping close to my bedroom.”
The former council boss said: “This political period, you never can tell who your enemies are. According to the CCTV, the incident occurred between 3 and 4 am. Imagine if I had I slept at home, the story would have been different.
By the grace of God, the culprits will be brought to book.”
