Hoyte has made 15 appearances for Lincoln while on loan from Arsenal

Lincoln City’s on-loan Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte has been ruled out for six months with a serious knee injury.

Hoyte, 20, damaged anterior cruciate and medial ligaments in the defeat by Chesterfield and requires surgery.

Lincoln manager Steve Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: “It’s a body blow to us. We were starting to get some continuity but Gavin will be out for a long time.

“But he’s a young lad, he will recover and he has a fantastic attitude so I’m sure he will be back.”

Hoyte, who was on loan at Sincil Bank until the end of the season, has made 15 appearances for the Imps since joining from Arsenal in October 2010.

Tilson also confirmed that Lincoln will be without Luke Howell for two to three weeks after the midfielder limped off with a hamstring injury in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Oxford United.
