Former Roma coach Claudio Ranieri believes Chelsea can win their first Champions League this season.
The Blues currently hold a two-goal lead over Copenhagen in their Round of 16 tie, and, while he is not surprised that they are struggling in the Premier League, the former Stamford Bridge boss believes they have the quality to go all the way in Europe.
“I am not surprised that Chelsea has struggled in the Premier League this season,” he was quoted as saying by TuttoSport. “Football is not a science as team can do well as well as play poor.
“But I think that this Chelsea side can win the Champions League because it is a marvellous squad with fantastic players.”
The former Blues boss admits Carlo Ancelotti’s men can do even better as he believes strikers Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba are not at full fitness.
“Maybe Torres is not at 100 per cent and the same goes for Drogba, but I think they can do better,” he added.
