Blackpool defender Neal Eardley says his side will miss DJ Campbell after the striker was sent off in last weekend’s 4-0 loss at Wolves.

Campbell, who has scored ten goals this season, was dismissed for striking out at Wolves defender Richard Stearman and will miss the Seasiders’ next three games – starting on Monday when they face a resurgent Chelsea.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire the Welsh defender said: “He’s scored a lot of goals for us this season so he’ll be a great loss.

“We’re already missing Charlie [Adam] through suspension, so the other lads need to step up.”

The striker apologised to Blackpool fans on his Twitterpage earlier in the week and Eardley says he is confident that the incident was a one-off.

“I don’t know what sparked it off to be honest, I didn’t really see.

“DJ knows he was in the wrong and he’s not that type of lad. But you can’t raise your hands and he’d admit it was probably heat of the moment.”
