The FA want Manchester United’s in-house television station MUTV to give them the footage that could potentially land Sir Alex Ferguson with an improper conduct charge for his comments about Martin Atkinson after the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, according to The Mirror.

Ferguson is likely to learn his fate on Thursday, with the FA asking MUTV for footage of his post-match interview.

However, as they do not come under FA jurisdiction, the United in-house channel would not have to hand over the footage, and it seems unlikely that they would risk putting their relationship with Ferguson in danger.

Even if the FA do charge the United boss with improper conduct, he will still take his place on the touchline as the league leaders take on rivals Liverpool on Sunday as he would have until Friday to respond to any such charges.
