Oh, Premier League. You never fail to entertain or surprise us. In another weekend that saw bucket loads of goals, some shock results and an elbow or two, there were plenty of standout performances.

West Ham pulled off the most eyebrow-raising result with a 3-1 win over a rejuvenated Liverpool, lifting themselves off the foot of the table in the process. Scott Parker was unsurprisingly heavily involved but did he do enough to make our Team of the Week, for what feels like his 400th inclusion this season?

Meanwhile, there were quartets of goals for Aston Villa, Wolves and Manchester United as they saw off Blackburn, Blackpool and Wigan respectively, with Ashley Young, Jermaine Beckford and Chicharito all grabbing doubles.

Games at Eastlands, St James’ Park and the Britannia all ended in 1-1 draws but were not short of controversy – Carlos Vela’s late offside goal for West Brom at Stoke invoked plenty of anger from Potters’ fans and management.

And on Tuesday night Manchester United squeezed in their second game of the week, but couldn’t hold onto a first-half lead and went down 2-1 at Chelsea, blowing the title race wide open again.

Meanwhile, Birmingham and Arsenal had a week off from league duties to contest the League Cup final, with the Bluenoses pulling off a shock win against the Gunners, as Laurent Koscielny made his most generous blunder yet.

But who did enough to receive the honour of a Goal.com UK Team of the Week inclusion? Let’s find out…
