Birmingham City‘s League Cup match-winner Obafemi Martins says he is still unsure about his long-term future at the Midlands club.

Martins wrote his name into the history books when he was in the right place at the right time to tap in the winner as Alex McLeish’s men defied all the odds to beat Arsenal 2-1 in the final on Sunday.

And the 26-year-old striker, who is currently on loan from Russian side Rubin Kazan, has previously hinted that he would relish a permanent return to the Premier League.

However, after his parent club confirmed that there was no deal in place for the Nigerian to stay at St Andrew’s beyond the end of the season, Martins has admitted that his long-term future is uncertain.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, the forward said: “

I’m still on loan and I just want to be with the team, scoring goals, and we will see what is going to happen.”

Martins was reportedly courted by other Premier League clubs during the January transfer window but went on to state that he was fortunate to be a Birmingham player.

“When Birmingham called me, I decided to come. They have the players that can play.

“I’m lucky to be here, and we have won at Wembley.”
