OSCARS 2011: Joan Collins blames tight dress after she was rushed to hospital at Vanity Fair Oscars party

Joan Collins says her ‘very tight dress’  was the reason she had to be rushed to hospital after she almost passed out at an Oscars party.

The 77-year-old actress admitted her choice of outfit had been the ‘wrong decision’ after she became dizzy at the Vanity Fair Academy Awards party at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles.

The star had taken to the red carpet in the extremely figure-hugging purple plunge-necked confection, but began to feel faint once inside the West Hollywood bash.

The former Dynasty star started to feel unwell around 10pm and had rest on a sofa in the hotel’s Tower Bar before her husband, Percy Gibson, called an ambulance, according to reports.

She was later discreetly helped out of the back of the hotel.  Collins claimed she’d suffered a ‘Victorian swoon’ because of her tight-fitting dress.

‘We had been there for seven hours, and I started feeling dizzy,’ she told the New York Post.

‘I tried to get some air, but I felt really faint. I wanted to leave in our limo, but Percy decided to call an ambulance.

‘We went to the hospital, and they did all the tests before the doctors told me I was absolutely fine and released me.’

She added: ‘The truth was, I made the wrong decision to wear a very tight dress, and had something rather like a Victorian swoon. The good news is, I am in good health and feel fine today.’
