According to a report on the Washington Post, the New York Red Bulls have fired assistant coaches Richie Williams and Des McAleenan with immediate effect.
“As an organization, we decided to go a different direction with our coaching staff,” said Red Bull New York General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler. “We want to thank Richie and Des for their contributions to our franchise and wish them good luck in their future endeavors.”
The reason for the firings is reportedly due to repeated breaking of club rules, with one source saying punctuality being one.
The two long-time servants of the Red Bulls franchise had a combined 17 seasons with the club.
