The Egyptian FA says it is cutting down expenses ‘in line with the revolution’

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has announced that it will reduce the salaries of all its workers.

National team players could also see their wages reduced.

A statement on the EFA website said no member of staff would earn above $2,500 while the minimum wage would be about $250.

Egypt has been rocked by a political crisis recently, leading to the suspension of all football activities in the country and a loss of revenue.

The statement went on to say the decision is “in line with the spirit of the revolution”.

The EFA also said it would meet with clubs in the country to agree on a compensation deal for players who are called to the national squad.
