France international Mamadou Sakho could be on his way out of Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season as Serie A giants AC Milan have shown an interest in signing the highly rated defender.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new centre-back to replace the ageing Alessandro Nesta for the long term and Milan consider the 21-year-old Sakho to be the perfect addition to their back line, according to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sakho is a product of the PSG youth academy and has developed into a key player for the Parisiens since making his full debut in 2007. The centre-back made his France debut in 2010 and is considered to be one of the most promising defenders in Europe.

The Serie A leaders face stiff competition in the race for Sakho’s services though. The young defender has also been linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the past couple of months.

Sakho’s current contract with the Europa League hopefuls runs until the summer of 2012.
