West Ham co-owner David Gold missed the club’s victory over Liverpool on Sunday as he was being treated in hospital for cholangitis and septicaemia.

Gold was initially taken ill on Wednesday evening and was still not well enough to attend Upton Park on Sunday.

The 74-year-old’s daughter Jacqueline hopes her father will be back to full health soon but admits he was devastated at missing Sunday’s match.

“I saw my dad this morning,” she told reporters.

“He is very poorly with cholangitis (inflammation of the bile duct) and septicaemia.

“He is on powerful antibiotics and we hope to see an improvement in the next few days.

“He asked me to be at the Liverpool game today on his behalf and is absolutely devastated he could not be there himself.”

Gold, who purchased the Hammers alongside fellow businessman David Sullivan in January 2010, will hope to be fit for next week’s home clash with Stoke City.
