Manchester United winger Nani has rallied his side ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old has been in sublime form so far this season, scoring 12 goals in 36 games, and despite being top of the Premier League with a four point gap, the Portuguese star has insisted that his team are not preparing to rest on their laurels.

United travel to Liverpool at the weekend after facing Chelsea, before playing the winner of the match between Arsenal and Leyton Orient in the FA Cup.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the winger said: “We have some tough games coming up.

“It’s the most important period of the season and I think that if we can beat Chelsea and Liverpool then we’ll have a fantastic opportunity to win the league.

“But that’s easy to say: it’s much harder to do it. Chelsea and Liverpool are fantastic teams and obviously they’re desperate to win as well. We know it won’t be easy.”

The winger has also reiterated the importance of not losing in their upcoming fixtures, claiming that picking up the occasional point would not be overly damaging.

He added: “Of course, we may not be able to win every game, and if we end up getting a draw against somebody then it’s not the end of the world.

“The important thing is not to lose. But we always go into games with the mentality of winning.”

Nani also insisted that the mood in the United camp is very positive and that they are full of self belief as the title run-in draws ever closer.

He said: “We’re top of the league so of course we feel good about ourselves. And we must have been doing something right to have reached this point.

“Now it’s important we keep believing in ourselves and concentrate on playing football the way we want to play football.

“We can’t think about other teams and whether or not they’re winning or losing – we just need to win our own games.”
