Martin Kelly insists Liverpool can bounce back from West Ham defeat with victory over Manchester United

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has told his team-mates to put their 3-1 defeat to West Ham behind them and focus on the huge clash with Manchester United at the weekend.

Kenny Dalglish’s side were soundly beaten by West Ham but Kelly feels that the club can bounce back in time to host their rivals from the other end of the M62.

20-year-old Kelly has been a bright spark in a disappointing season at Anfield so far, ousting Glen Johnson at right-back, and feels that he and his team-mates can’t afford to dwell on Sunday’s defeat.

He told the club’s official website: “We were all disappointed with the result and our performance on Sunday and we’ve got to put this behind us and look forward to the big game against Manchester United at Anfield.

“It’s at home, we will have our fans behind us and hopefully we can give them the result we all want.”

Kelly went off injured in the defeat to Avram Grant’s side but expects to be ready to return soon.

He added: “I knew straight away I had injured my hamstring.

“I’m usually a quick healer and we have good medical staff at the club so hopefully I will be back soon. I will have the scan and hopefully it won’t be too bad.”
