Puel saw an improved performance in the second half, as his side were somewhat fatigued from their midweek Champions League match against Real Madrid.
“It is still a good result given the difficult terrain,” the coach told L’Equipe. “We had to adapt to the conditions, and Lille started well, but we responded well.
“In the second half, we did not concede too many opportunities, and by the end, could have won the match had certain moments gone our way.
“We are frustrated as there were many encouraging signs, as our performance was similar to what we have done recently. We stayed focused, and leveled proceedings.
“It was a big game for my team, and we had to do well. Lille had fresh and talented players. This match was perilous for us, and we did not let Lille off the hook,” he concluded.
