Things could be about to get a whole lot worse for Chelsea star Ashley Cole after William Hill made him joint favourite to be next Premier League player to be arrested.

The British bookmaker has Cole at 8/1 along with fellow bad boy Joey Barton as the leading contenders to be hauled to the cop shop. Cole has landed himself in hot water after allegations emerged that he allegedly shot a student, who was working at the club’s training ground in Cobham, with an air rifle.

A police investigation is likely to be next on the agenda for the highly rated defender and Chelsea have confirmed they are dealing with the bizarre incident internally.

“Rather bizarrely, reports are suggesting that Ashley Cole shot someone with an air rifle and it could well be that his bad boy ways are not behind him just yet,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill have already paid out on Craig Bellamy and Jack Wilshere this year and the odds suggest that Ashley Cole could make it a “hat-trick of hoodlums”.
