Bolton manager Owen Coyle has reiterated that he wants to keep on-loan striker Daniel Sturridge.

The England under-21 international has been in sensational form since his loan move from Chelsea, scoring four goals in as many games.

Coyle, who tried capturing the former Manchester City man in his Burnley days, would love the forward to stay beyond the end of this season.

He was quoted as saying by The Sun: “He is such a natural finisher but much more than that. He is such a natural footballer. They are the kind of players I like to bring into the club. He is young and exciting.

“As much as I am the manager here, I am also a football fan. He will get even better, believe me.

“I would love him to stay here. I have said ‘come in, enjoy your football, play with a smile on your face and see where that takes you’. I would love his loan to continue next season.”

Coyle signed Arsenal star Jack Wilshere on loan last season and thinks Sturridge is in a similar situation to the England international.

He added: “I was close to getting Jack Wilshere back at the start of the season but Arsenal had a few injuries. He got his chance there and set the place alight. Who is to say Daniel cannot do the same.”
