Tinubu to Fed Govt, PDP: your allegations are empty

Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader and former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday asked the Federal Government to file a charge against him if it has a case.

He was reacting to a report in the Nigerian Tribune which claimed the government would file a charge against him.

Tinubu said: “I have said it before and I will say it again: if they have any evidence, let them go ahead and prosecute. The so-called case is an object of cheap blackmail, from which nothing will come out. In any case, let us meet in court, if they have any case,” Tinubu said.

Dismissing what he called “The government’s more than a decade empty claim,” Tinubu said if all the noise was still on the so-called foreign accounts, then it was embarking on a 12-year blind alley, at the end of which it would have found the exercise a waste of time.

He wished the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its media allies well in their campaign by demonisation.

Tinubu told PDP that it is only a solid and clear-cut programmes, not demonising political opponents by purveying falsehood, win elections.

“If the PDP and its media allies feel the demonisation of Bola Tinubu would save them from the electoral hiding to come from the South West and other parts of the country, they are entitled to their costly delusions,” he said.

On the alleged sale of some five houses in the United States, purportedly belonging to him, Tinubu said the allegation had added new comic to the blackmail and demonisation game.

“For 12 years, they have bandied around allegations about the so-called foreign accounts, with absolutely no shred of evidence. Now, they are adding comical sales of non-existent houses. It is election time, of course!”, he said.

Fresh from a tumultuous rally in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the ACN governorship candidate, Senator Abiola Ajimobi flagged off his campaign, “Tinubu said PDP should keep on distracting itself with these old wives’ tales.

“By the time they are buried without trace after the April election, they will wake up to find it is too late,” he said, adding that from the tumultuous crowd that attended Senator Ajimobi’s campaign opener, it was clear PDP is heading for a terrible beating in Oyo State, come the April elections.”
