THE KING’S SPEECH has been given a huge pre-Oscars boost – U.S. censors have agreed to release a new cut of the film with a PG-13 rating.
Officials at the Motion Picture Association of America’s ratings board have given producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein permission to screen both the new family-friendly alternative and the existing R-rated version in cinemas at the same time.
Swear words that feature prominently in the original movie have been removed in the PG-13 version.
The King’s Speech is a favourite to pick up the Best Picture Oscar at the Academy Awards on Sunday (27Feb11).
