The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper had expressed concern during Friday’s edition of Peace FM’s Flagship programme, “Kokrokoo“, that the intense struggle for power in the CPP was negatively affecting the party’s efforts to regroup and win power.
But the group, in a statement issued and signed by its Spokesperson, Fusseini Abdul Fataw asserted that Mr Pratt cannot totally absolve himself from blame regarding the problems confronting the CPP since he always seem to back the NDC or President Mills.
“If he (Pratt) is really a member of the CPP, he must support the leadership; join a constituency, get a party card, pay his dues and speak FOR the CPP and NOT the NDC or President Mills…He must support the CPP all the time, or let the whole world know that he is an independent, a member of the NDC or some other party

Mr. Kwesi Pratt has once again shown his hypocritical self. He is reported by the media as having “…lampooned the leadership of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for losing focus on the necessary measures they needed to adopt to bring the party back to power.”
He is reported to have said on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme on Friday, that instead of showing interest in building party structures from the grassroots level, the opposite is what is currently prevailing as members jostle for leadership positions.
Our question is, where has Kwesi Pratt been? Who did he support in 2004 when he went around the country and was never seen at any of the rallies of the CPP? Did he campaign for the party’s presidential candidate the, Mr George Aggudey? Where? When he campaigned in the Northern Region in 2004, which political party did he work for? It would appear to us that Kwesi Pratt only campaigns for his own interest.
He is reported to have said that “…the power-struggle in the party is so evident to the extent that those who got elected to the flagbearership position blatantly sidelined their opponents, and even their supporters, as they tried fruitlessly to win political power.”
He is said to have also said that in the run-up to the 2008 general elections the “party was completely sidelined” in the heat of the campaign, whilst non-members of the CPP were rather brought in to run the show.
Mr. Kwesi Pratt was the Communications Director of the CPP in the run up to the 2007 Congress.
Indeed, he was the MC of the Congress.
Strangely enough, he disappeared from the stage when Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom defeated those Kwesi Pratt favoured. He vanished completely from the CPP campaign.
He did not lift a finger or raise a voice in 2008 to support the CPP Presidential Candidate or the Parliamentary Candidates. So where does he get the voice and the moral right to question the actions and behavior of those who have been toiling to hold the party up?
Indeed, many are convinced that all along, he was campaigning for Prof. Mills and the NDC. So how can he sit on radio to question anyone’s genuineness or commitment to the CPP? These days, it is becoming clear that it is people like Kwesi Pratt who have destroyed the credibility of the CPP by claiming to be purer Nkrumahists than the leadership – they sit outside, blast every action of the party, do nothing and yet complain when it loses elections.
In our humble opinion, what is more shameful than Kwesi Pratt using the publicity he has gained on the backs of the CPP to run after the NDC and support President Mills when the party he claims to belong to gets one per cent of the total vote cast in a nationwide election.
If he is really a member of the CPP, he must support the leadership; join a constituency, get a party card, pay his dues and speak FOR the CPP and NOT the NDC or President Mills.
We are watching to see what he does and we will return to this topic. He must support the CPP all the time, or let the whole world know that he is an independent, a member of the NDC or some other party.
