IBADAN – SOME subjects of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, have described as an affront to the community the handing over of the key of the renovated Atiba Hall to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is from Ogun State, instead of the revered monarch of the ancient town.

Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State had, at the inauguration of the hall, given the key to the former president who was in attendance.

Alleging disregard to the highly exalted traditional institution in Yorubaland, a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Kamil Akinlabi, said large percentage of the indigenes of Oyo town were unhappy at the action of the governor.

Akinlabi, who defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria, from PDP, condemned the action of the governor, saying the issue would not be treated lightly that an Owu man, Chief Obasanjo, could leave his domain and usurp the role expected to be performed by the monarch.
