Lagos bans pregnant women from Hajj

AS Lagos State commences preparation for 2011 Holy Pilgrimage to Mecca, it announced that in line with the directive from the Saudi-Arabian authorities  through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, no pregnant woman will be allowed to travel with the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrim Board for the annual Holy Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia this year.

Also, in order to make the 2011 Hajj less tedious and  facilitate the prompt processing of the travelling documents for all intending pilgrims from the state, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will tomorrow commence the sale of year 2011 Hajj forms.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdul Adewale, disclosed these to newsmen, yesterday.

He directed Intending pilgrims in the state to purchase their application forms at the appropriate designated point within the state secretariat.

Meanwhile, as Lagos lawmakers resumed, yesterday, arrangements are set for the consideration and eventual passage of Lagos State Public Finance Management Bill 2011 into law.

The bill is part of measures towards improving on transparency and accountability in governance.
