“I’ve been offered three films, three television series and a miniseries, as well as several other scripts for consideration,” said the 63-year-old grandmother.
“They’re all firm offers, so now it’s a matter of juggling things around and seeing what are the best choices to make. I’d like to do them all, but there isn’t enough time. It is huge. I guess in the past few weeks, I’ve read more than a dozen scripts.”
Though Hollywood is generally a younger woman’s game, Weaver was thrilled by the “meaty” roles on offer, following her Oscar nomination for the role of crime matriarch Janine Cody in cult Australian film Animal Kingdom.
“They’ve all been fantastic – really well-written and really great stories,” she said. “I love American films. I’ve been watching them all of my life, but Hollywood just didn’t seem possible.”
A permanent move from her Sydney home to the US is also on the cards for Weaver and her actor husband, Sean Taylor.
“I’d have to move [to Los Angeles] because these are all major roles. They are not guest appearances,” she said.
