Former Lagos State governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader , Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu yesterday made a triumphant entry into the ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State. It was at the flag off campaign of the ACN in the capital city.
Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Osun State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the ACN National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, and other national officials of the party had arrived about 3pm in two helicopters.
The helicopters had thrilled hundreds of party supporters when they hovered several times over Mapo Hall , venue of the historic rally . As the helicopters moved round in a bid to secure a landing space, the crowd chanted Tinubu ! Tinubu!
The imposing Mapo Hall with its large space could not contain the crowd of supporters who thronged the venue of the rally with brooms and ACN flag to welcome the party leaders from Lagos, Ekiti, Edo, Osun Ondo and Ogun States to the political nerve centre of the South-West .
Two major markets situated at Oja’ Oba and Beere , a few metres from the venue of the rally, were shut down apparently as a mark of honour for the party. All roads leading to the Bashorun Ogunmola Statue’s Square were also closed to traffic.
