David Beckham Symbolises Himself As Jesus In Latest Tattoo

FOOTBALL star David Beckham risked cries of heresy after depicting himself as Jesus in his latest tattoo but received a flurry of support after unveiling the design on his official Facebook page.

The much-tattooed LA Galaxy midfielder also posted a video explaining how he came to the chest design, which shows three cherubs carrying the Jesus.

It took 12 hours and two sittings for legendary Hollywood tattoo artist Mark Mahoney to complete the design.

Beckham said it portrays his own sons – Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz – who will support him later in life.

“Obviously, the cherubs are boys, so my thought behind it is that at some point, my boys are going to need to look after me, and that’s what they’re doing in the picture. Everything has a meaning,” he said.

“I don’t plan on having a tattoo. It’s just sometimes I wake up and I think, you know, I’ve got an idea of an image I would like on me.

“Some people love tattoos, some people don’t. It’s just something that I have always found can kind of express how I’m feeling, or the thoughts that I have or memories.”

The response from his legion of online fans, who are used to his fascination with body art, was largely positive, with comments like “amazing,” “awesome,” or simply “nice!” – and they were quick to deal with mild dissent caused by the 35 year old portraying himself as the Lord.

“Chill out it’s just a tattoo,” said one post. “Let’s not get religious on his a**!”
