Calabar – CONFERENCE of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, Cross River State chapter, has passed a confidence vote on the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr Mike Igini for insisting that all political parties in the state must follow due process in the conduct of their affairs.

Besides, the CNPP has commended the REC for the way he handled the just concluded voters’ registration exercise in the state and advised any group or community that was dissatisfied with the exercise to utilize the provisions for verification, claims and objectives to address their problems.

Addressing journalists in Calabar, yesterday,  the state chairman of CNPP Mr Cletus Obun said the protest rally organised by a group of people with the name, “Concerned Cross Riverians” demanding the resignation or redeployment of the state INEC Commissioner was baseless and uncalled for and in bad faith.

His words, “we want to state clearly, that this protest rally is a smoke screen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, persistence on the need for the transfer and or dismissal of Mr.  Igini from Cross River State.“
