Vice President Mahama said the presentation was an indication that government was determined to promote teaching and learning in all educational institutions as well as improving the mobility of students, teachers and heads of institutions.

He said government had made provision for 110 science resource centres in the country to be refurbished and equipped to promote science education.Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, Minister of Education who received the keys on behalf of the schools said her sector Ministry had put in place many interventions to promote SHS education.

She said government was constructing a six- unit classroom block in about 350 SHS and technical institutions throughout the country, in addition to the award of contracts for the construction of dining halls and dormitories. Mrs Mould-Iddrisu said inadequate SHS, overcrowding in existing schools, low educational output and lack of teachers especially in deprived communities were some challenges of hampering education delivery in the country.

She noted that under the 2011 Budget, education had received a big boost and therefore more resources would be provided to improve on delivery at all levels. Mrs Mould-Iddrisu called on teachers to re-dedicate themselves to their profession to achieve higher laurels.
