It should have been a night to remember so why did they look so miserable?

Gary Barlow and Take That won a Brit this year – but you’d never have known

Having

the fastest-selling record of the decade and finally winning a Brit for Best

British Group would be enough to put a smile on most people’s faces, but

clearly Take That are hard to please.

Despite rave reviews for their opening performance at the Brit Awards

last week, when it came to collecting their gong the quintet barely managed a

grin. 


In fact, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie

Williams looked more like five old men going to work than a group of mates

who’d just won an award.

The band shared awkward hugs and, despite adoring kisses from wife Ayda

Field, Robbie didn’t look like part of the gang as he climbed on stage via a

different route to his bandmates.

With 
no one wanting to take the mic, Robbie

bizarrely shouted ‘shabba’ before peacemaker Mark Owen took up the task,

thanking Robbie for reuniting with the band.

At the after party at London’s swanky Savoy Hotel, the mostly teetotal

group half-heartedly joined in the fun. ‘It was supposed to be a celebration,’

says our insider.

‘But they all looked a bit stony faced.’

When Now asked

Robbie how he felt about the win, he said: ‘I can’t wait to get back to the flat, hug the wife and have a cup of

tea and biscuits.’

Rock and roll!

But the boys have been through a lot, whether it be alcohol, drugs or

even secret mistresses, and their upcoming tour in May is no doubt at the

forefront of their minds.

‘They just want the best for the fans,’ adds the

source.

‘They’re determined to make their tour one people won’t forget. If the

Brit performance was anything to go by, we’re

in for a real treat.’
