Fiorentina’s Valon Behrami: Our Objective Is Survival

Fiorentina midfielder Valon Behrami has said the club must look down before they can gaze upwards as he reaches for safety.

Behrami arrived from West Ham in January, and he insists the primary aim must be staying away from the drop zone following a less than perfect season. The Viola currenrtly sit 11th, 10 points clear of the relegation watermark.

“The objective is salvation, for now. Then we have to improve. This is our objective, those who speak about other things are making mistakes,” Behrami told the press.

“I know it’s bad to say this for a team like Fiorentina, but this is how it is.

“We did really well against Palermo and then Sampdoria.”

And Behrami hopes the path they have laid out thus far continues against Bari.

“Bari are at the bottom, we must not underestimate them. It will be a difficult game, but we have to go there with the right mentality otherwise we will be going backwards.”
