AMA To Outdoor New Cemetery Soon

The Director of Public Health at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Dr. Simpson Anim-Boateng, says the assembly has held discussions which have reached an advanced stage on developing a yet to be confirmed site for a new cemetery.

Most cemeteries in the metropolis are almost full, thus necessitating the need for another site.

“AMA is in a process of acquiring a new land for use as a cemetery,” Dr. Anim Boateng revealed.

The AMA Director of Public Health, who was speaking to Citi FM in an interview, said the necessary paper work and documentation on the new site is still being processed.

Until the legal aspect of acquiring the piece of land is concluded, Dr. Anim-Boateng said, it will be difficult to state the location and size of the new cemetery.

He was however, optimistic that barring any hitches, “it won’t be that long, it could be this year and earlier than we are thinking.”
