Chris Larbi Boateng has been questioned by police in the Western Region for allegedly using insulting language at the president during a radio discussion programme on the controversial all-die-be-die comment by the NPP flagbearer.
But the NPP member said his comments could not under any circumstances be described as an insult, saying he only asked a rhetorical question which was predicated on a reaction by the deputy Energy Minister, Inusah Fuseini.
According to him, the Minister in his reaction said the all-die-be-die comments smacked of lunacy.
Larbi Boateng told Joy News’ Sammy Darko in an interview that he only posed a rhetorical question but did not insult the president.
Before the panelist were asked to do their submissions, Hon Inusah Fuseini made a statement to the effect that what Nana Addo had said bordered on lunacy and so while I made my submission and was bringing my submission to a conclusion, I asked a rhetorical question that for the information of Inusah Fuseini, between the two personalities, which of them have had his own people in recent times coming out to tell Ghanaians [his actions] bordered on lunacy.
He said except somebody can prove he has insulted the president, he has no regrets for the comments he made.
Meanwhile, the police say they are still waiting for proof from the accusers of Chris Boateng to commence serious investigations into the matter.
The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alhaji Hamidu Mahama said the accused person was never arrested except that a statement was taken from him.
He said based on the gravity of the offence the police will take the necessary action but said the police could not act on hearsays without evidence.
