Dennis Akwsi Okyere, a businessman at Agric Edwenase, a suburb of Kumasi, allegedly slashed his 23 year old girlfriend, Dorcas Ofenan, several times in the face, after suspecting her of dating another guy.
But, for the intervention of the boy’s father and sister, the life of Dorcas could have ended that fateful day.

Dennis is currently being held by the Sofoline Police, assisting in investigations into the bizarre incident.

According to information, the victim, Dorcas, visited the accused at his resident in Edwenase on Friday night, when the accused started hurling accusations at her that she was seeing another guy. Try as much as the victim attempted to explain to the boyfriend that she was not dating any other guy, Dennis was not convi8nced, and after few minutes of verbal exchanges, went out of the room only to come back with a kitchen knife and start slashing the girl in the face.

At that moment, the victim started shouting for help, attracting the attention of the accused’s father and sister, who also live in the same house, and who came to her rescue, and quickly rushed her to the Konfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where she is currently receiving medical attention.

Dennis was subsequently arrested by the Sofoline Police that same night.

According to the victim, Dennis told her he would either kill her or mutilate her body to the extent that no man would find her attractive anymore.

The Sofoline Police have meanwhile, confirmed the incident and the arrest of Dennis, but said investigations were ongoing to enable them prosecute the suspect.

Meanwhile, the GNA reports that Dennis has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court, after pleading guilty to the charge of causing harm.

The court, presided over by Mr. Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey, heard from Police Chief Inspector Confort Baffour-Kyei that the complainant, Dorcas Ofinam, is unemployed, and has been in a relationship with the convict for the past one year.

On February 10, Frimpong invited her to his house, under the pretext of giving her some items brought from London to him by the mother.
When she got there, he locked the door, and began questioning her about her supposed unfaithfulness, which she denied.

The prosecution squad Frimpong would not accept her claim of innocence, picked a knife, and attacked her while she screamed for help.

This attracted some people in the neighbourhood, who pleaded with the convict to unlock the door.

Dorcas was found in a pool of blood, and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was kept on admission overnight.
