A member of the legal team of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Lawyer David Annan, has castigated the Minority Caucus in parliament for showcasing what he termed as an “entirely distressing” behavior during and after President Mills’ 3rd State Of The Nation Address.
In an interview with Emefa Apawu on X-FM’s “Big Bite Show”, David Annan described the NPP as men “behaving like errant school boys” and opined that their conduct might stem from the lack of proper upbringing.
To him, the Minority in parliament “behaved like juveniles in a street shop”.
“It seems it is due to the training that they might have had. This is because, if you are properly trained from infancy, you do not attend a national occasion and behave like a rabble-rouser,” he added.
It would be recalled that the Minority Leader, clearly riled by the failure of President Mills to acknowledge the presence of ex-president Kufuor, the Chief Justice and members of the Diplomatic Corps in his address on Thursday, February 17th, expressed his reservation in the form of refusing to escort the president out of the Chamber after his address.
But Lawyer David Annan argues that the Minority’s action only “deepens the perception that we have and transforms it into a reality that the NPP appointed judges, and the Chief Justice herself is an NPP apparatchik.”
Whiles charging Ghanaians to unite and condemn unequivocally the behavior of Hon. Osei Kyei Bonsu for breaching parliamentary protocol yesterday, he warned the NPP to desist from determining to the media what they (NPP) deem as issues.
The NPP, he said, is “fast becoming irrelevant to the political discourse of this country and this is driving them to the dust.”
