NPP Member of Parliament for Ahafo-Ano South constituency, Hon. Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu, has vow to resign from politics and cease to be a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party forthwith, should flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo render any form of apology for his “all-die-be-die” comment.
Mr. Balado Manu who is serving his fourth term (16years in 2012)in Ghana’s Parliament said he will divest himself off his political clothes if Nana bows to the needless calls and pressure from mostly their political opponents (the NDC) to offer apology for his infamous comment.
Speaking on e-TV’s Breakfast TV Newspaper Review, Hon. Balado defended Nana Addo’s “all-die-be-die” comment, saying for far too long, the ruling government has hidden behind their violent and bullying tag by intimidating and harassing NPP supporters, and intimated that the NPP this time, will rise up in defence against oppressors.
“If Nana Addo apologizes for his comment today, you will see me exiting tomorrow from politics altogether; including exiting from the NPP because I have been in parliament for 15 years now and I have my supporters in Mankranso township especially, who are constantly harassed and beaten by the NDC,” he lamented.
He wondered if the NDC was the only party that has the right to defend and attack others. According to him, the NDC have engaged in several violent activities and said far worse things, yet they turn around to chastise others.
“What has happened to the Agbogbloshie issue, people were killed in front of police officers and not a single soul has been arrested. What about the incident at Atiwa and Akwatia where NDC footsoldiers had the gut to determine who should be our party agent to the extent that the security agents had to appeal to Dan Botwe to leave the scene…even though he was a party agent for there to be peace. The peace we all needed had to come by Dan Botwe’s exit from the place not those hooligans being arrested. Has the NDC surfaced from the moon that they think they can have their way all the time?” he quizzed angrily.
He was of the view that even if after the infamous Ghana could be like Kenya should if there be electoral malpractices in the 2008 elections speech, Ghanaians still voted for Professor Mills touted as an ‘asomdwee’ (peaceful) person, then Ghanaians can as well vote for anybody else.
