Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Malik Kwaku Baako, says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party has disingenuously twisted Nana Addo’s “all-die-be-die” comment, and raised it to the level of propaganda allowing others to make political capital out of it.
The NPP Flagbearer warned that the NPP will not tolerate any attempts by members of the NDC to intimidate its members in the 2012 General Elections. According to him, the NPP was founded with courageous and bold people who are ready to die for the party if need be to wrestle political power in 2012.
Addressing party supporters in the Eastern Region on Tuesday February 8, Nana Akufo-Addo was emphatic that NPP supporters will match its political opponents boot for boot in 2012.
In a swift rebuttal, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, at a press conference he addressed on Thursday, February 10, accused the flagbearer of the NPP of endorsing suicide missions per his comments. The “all-die-be-die” pronouncements, he said, are “typical” of Nana Akufo-Addo, whose political life, he claims, has been characterized by violence all along, pointing out that under his leadership, Ghana would certainly not be a safe place.
He therefore urged the NPP to take immediate steps to remove Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s flagbearer because his actions and words are inimical to Ghana’s democracy.
But contributing to a panel discussion on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme, Kwaku Baako said the NDC has not been fair in interrogating the facts of Nana Addo’s statement by being hypocritical about the whole issue.
He described as appalling the NDC’s desperate attempt to be selective and disingenuous in analyzing facts.
“Nana Addo’s comment is totally different from the statement the NDC has put out. Right from day one this whole “all-die-be-die” comment, people started putting a twist on it and the matter has been lifted unto the level of propaganda. People are seeking to make propaganda capital out of Nana Addo’s comment but that way of politics is wrong,” he noted.
The New Crusading Guide Managing Editor said the NDC has no moral right to impute meanings into Nana Addo’s statement and must stop behaving as saints, since they are also equally guilty of politically incorrect statements.
He said if NDC wants to do a dispassionate analysis of the issue, it must be devoid of facts twisting. He noted that to ensure political temperature in the country is lowered and decent language used; massaging facts for propaganda purposes should be taken out of Ghana’s body politic.
To him, the NDC plays the tribal card and politics of ethnicity more than anybody else yet they hypocritically turn around and indict the NPP.
“I’m happy to hear NDC gurus say the NPP is not after all an Akan party in dealing with Nana Addo’s tape, they have finally admitted that there are other tribes in the party as well,” he stated.
