Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Gordon Asare Bediako has expressed concern over how Anas’ latest exposé is being handled, especially by the two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the kind of response and action expected to be taken in dealing with the high rate of corruption extracted at the Tema Port has been twisted.
Speaking on e-TV’s Breakfast TV Newspaper Review, Mr. Asare Bediako described as unfortunate the political meanings being read into the investigative piece. He said it is appalling that people are using this brilliant piece of undercover work to score cheap political points instead of finding solution to the menace.
To him, it is not a big deal whether or not the government sponsored the investigation, the results, he said, was the important, he said but was important issue is the result of the exposé.
“When the story broke out, the comments that we were receiving from political divides was good until some government officials started reading political meanings into it. This has been politicize which is not good because even if the exposé was sponsored and so what? Was it necessary for them to come out and say that just for political points or so that the presidency can get credit for fighting corruption?” he lamented.
He was categorical that to the best of his knowledge, Anas and his team only collaborated with some state institutions but were not sponsored, pointing out that they have their own ways and means of funding their investigations.
Mr. Asare Bediako gave the assurance that his colleague, Anas, is not perturbed by the political colorization to the whole issue and added that it will certainly not discourage him (Anas) from doing his work.
